Here’s what we covered in class on May 7th.

6:00pm White Belts

We Reviewed Punching and Blocking
Punching – In Horse Stance, Left Hand First

  • Middle Punch
  • High Punch
  • Low Punch

Blocking – In Horse Stance, Left Hand First

  • Middle Block – “Scoop the ice cream, look at your nails!”
  • High Block – “Scoop the ice cream, show your arm pit!”
  • Low Block – “Hand to your shoulder, dust the dirt!”
  • Outside to Inside Block – “Hand to your ear, catch the fly!”

We learned Jab and Reverse Punch

  • Jab – “High Punch with the Front Hand”
  • Reverse Punch – “Middle Punch with the Rear Hand”

We learned 4 Kicks

  • Front Stretch Kick – “Don’t bend your knee”
  • Inside to Outside Kick – “Paint the Rainbow”
  • Outside to Inside Kick – “High Five with your foot”
  • Front Snap Kick – “”Bend it, kick it, bend it, back”

We are continuing to review One-Step Sparring in detail. White belts should continue to practice 1 and 2, focusing on the 4 counts of the technique. All others should be practicing all their previous One-Step Sparring techniques. The techniques listed below are Odd numbers only. Even number techniques are the same, done to the other side.

One-Step Sparring #1 – Start in Choon Be

  1. Left Leg step forward, Right Hand reverse Middle Knife Hand Block
  2. Left Hand Middle Punch, Right Hand High Punch
  3. Right Leg slides behind Left Leg
  4. Front Leg Round House Kick

One-Step Sparring #3 – Start in Choon Be

  1. Right Leg step forward, PIVOT, Right Hand reverse Outside to Inside Block
  2. Left/Right double Middle Punch
  3. Left Leg slides behind Right Leg
  4. Front Leg Side Kick

One-Step Sparring #5 – Start in Fighting Stance

  1. Right Leg Stepping Front Snap Kick, PIVOT, Right Hand reverse Outside to Inside Block
  2. Left Hand Reverse High Punch
  3. Right Hand Push, Left Leg slides back half a step
  4. Right Leg Inside to Outside Kick

One-Step Sparring #7 – Start in Fighting Stance
