Class Review, January 14th

This is what we worked on in class.

White Belt Class – 6:30pm

In today’s class we reviewed the techniques we learned last week.

Stances

  • Attention Stance

    “Cha Ryut”, feet together, toes touching, hand at your sides, back straight, eyes forward, no moving!

  • Ready Stance

    “Choom Be”, feet shoulder width apart, hands in fists in front of you, eyes forward, no moving!

  • Horse Stance

    “Horse Stance”, feet twice shoulder width apart, toes forward, back straight, knees bent.

  • Fighting Stance

    “Fighting Stance”, right foot back, hand in fists by your chin, eyes forward.

  • In Horse Stance

    • Middle Punch

      Start with left hand, punch from the hip, aim to the solar plexus.

    • Middle Block

      Start with left hand, “Scoop the ice cream, look at your nails!”

    In Fighting Stance, Right Leg back

    • Front Snap Kick

      “Front Snap Kick”, Bend it, Kick it, Bend it, Back!

    We learned new punches and blocks

    Punches in Horse Stance.

    • Middle Punch

      Start with left hand, punch from the hip, aim to the solar plexus.

    • High Punch

      Start with left hand, punch from the hip, aim to the nose.

    • Low Punch

      Start with left hand, punch from the hip, aim below the belt.

    • Blocks in Horse Stance.

    • Middle Block

      Start with left hand, “Scoop the ice cream, look at your nails!”

    • High Block

      Start with left hand, “Scoop the ice cream, show your arm pit!”

    • Low Block

      Start with left hand, “Hand to the shoulder, dust the dirt!”

    • Outside to Inside Block

      Start with left hand, “Hand to the ear, catch the fly!”

    Juniors Class – 7:10pm

    Tonight we Primarily Focused on Kicking and Combinations.

    We reviewed:

    • Front Stretch Kick
    • Inside/Outside Kick
    • Outside/Inside Kick
    • Front Snap kick
    • Combination #5

    We learned Roundhouse Kick and Combination #6

    • Roundhouse Kick

      Turn your toes, turn your hips, lift your leg (like a dog peeing on a fence), kick it, bend it, back.

    • Combination #6

      This combination is an extension of Combination #5

      Low Block, Reverse Punch, High Block.

      Big Step Forward, Front Hand to the shoulder dust the dirt, reverse punch, Front Hand scoop the ice cream show your armpit.

    Advanced Class – 7:50pm

    Tonight we Primarily Focused on Kicking and Combinations.

      Kicking

    • Front Snap Kick
    • Round House Kick
    • Side Kick
    • Side Hook Kick
    • Back Kick
    • Short Spinning Wheel Kick
    • Combinations

    • Combination #6

      Low Block, Reverse Punch, High Block.

    • Combination #7

      Middle Punch, Reverse Middle Punch, Middle Block.

      Side Punch, Middle Block in Back Stance, Two-Fist Low Block.
